This is probably what distinguishes a professional photographer from an amateur one. For a professional, s/he takes a photograph of what s/he has already had in mind; for an amateur, s/he takes a photograph of what comes to him/her randomly. In other words, a professional "creates" an image while an amateur "captures" an image.
And no, it is not entirely true; but it is true for me and sets a direction toward which I can work hard.
